Hi, I’m Nelson
UI/UX & Visual Designer based in Japan.

I create clear, thoughtful digital experiences across web, mobile, and community-driven platforms. My background in UI/UX, illustration, and motion design shapes how I approach interfaces, balancing usability with visual personality and expressive interaction. I’m especially interested in multilingual systems, accessible information design, and creating experiences that feel intuitive, engaging, and easy to navigate across different cultures and communities.

Path and Principles

I’m currently based in Japan working as an ALT Advisor while collaborating with the Kobe City ALT/CIR community on graphic design, onboarding resources, editorial layouts, and multilingual information systems. Supporting international educators across school and city systems has strongly shaped how I approach UX, information architecture, accessibility, and designing for real community needs.

My background spans UI/UX, visual design, branding, illustration, and motion graphics across community platforms, education-focused projects, and startup-related work. These experiences shaped a design approach grounded in clarity, structure, and thoughtful visual communication, with a strong interest in creating digital experiences that feel intuitive, engaging, and genuinely useful to the people using them.

Outside of Design

I sketch, explore Japan, study languages, and experiment with motion and interactions.

Living abroad influences how I observe people, understand context, and design with empathy.

These experiences help me bring cultural awareness into everything I create.
